NRAO Home > Human Resources > Medical Plan - Premium Schedule

The NRAO medical premiums are based on your level of annual salary. Part-time employees' medical premiums are based on the full-time equivalent of their salary.

At the time you enroll, you must elect whether to make your employee contributions with before-tax or after-tax dollars. Making your contributions before-tax simply means they will be deducted from your regular paycheck before Federal and State income and Social Security taxes are taken. Since your taxes are based on a lower income, you pay less in taxes. Contributions which are deducted from your pay after taxes are withheld result in no tax savings to you.
