On 22 January 1981 all 27 antennas of the VLA worked together in A configuration. In the A configuration the antennas are spread along the entire Y-shape with a maximum antenna separation of 36 km, The 27 antennas of the VLA are pictured here in D configuration, where, with a maximun antenna separation of 1 km, all antennas are visible in one photo.
