A two-year Teacher Enhancement Program for K-12 teachers
from West Virginia and surrounding states. Sponsored in part
by the National Science Foundation, RARE CATS is designed to
provide its participants with:
a deeper understanding of the nature of science
astronomy content knowledge
training in the use of astronomy data processing
software
Research Experience for Teachers is an NSF
sponsored program similar to the
Research Experience for Undergraduates program. The RET
program gives K-12 teachers research experience by providing
"summer jobs" working alongside an astronomer or engineer. NRAO
sites in Socorro, NM and Green Bank, WV have applied to the RET
program for summer of 2001.
NRAO hosts 3-day intensive workshops for undergraduate college
faculty. Chautauqua courses are held in Green Bank, WV and
Socorro, NM.
