The National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) has major facilities at
three locations. The administrative headquarters is in Charlottesville,
Virginia. The principal telescope sites are at Green Bank, West Virginia,
and Socorro, New Mexico. At Green Bank and at the Very Large Array site,
west of Socorro, NRAO maintains Visitor Centers for tourists. Also, at
Kitt Peak, NRAO operates one of the ten antennas of the Very Long Baseline
Array (VLBA), and this antenna can be seen from the walking tour starting
at the Kitt Peak Visitor Center, operated by the National Optical Astronomy Observatories
(NOAO, although a "sister" organization, is not affiliated with NRAO or
AUI). Every year, thousands of visitors come to browse our visitor
centers and see our radio telescopes. We hope you can come and enjoy these
facilities.
