Numerical Simulations of Hierarchical Galaxy Formation
I will briefly review the status, successes, and main shortcomings of
current numerical simulations of galaxy formation, with particular
emphasis on the ability of simulations to form realistic galaxy
morphologies and to account for the observed abundance/properties of
satellite galaxies. I will also discuss ongoing efforts to simulate the
formation and evolution of the Milky Way galaxy in its proper
cosmological setting.
