Engineering at the NRAO

The word "engineering" is envisioned by different people differently. For some, what comes to mind is the structural engineering involved in building the framework of a radio telescope. Others see it as the design and fabrication of the near-microscopic individual stages of microwave mixers and amplifiers.

The NRAO encompasses both these aspects of engineering, and others. Instrumentation must be constructed to operate the telescopes, and to interpret the received data. And so the observatory is a multi-disciplined organization, and its various sites diversified. This very diversification gives the different sites of NRAO some measure of independence, while functioning as one observatory. Please visit each of the sites below to get the full "flavor" of what the National Radio Astronomy Observatory both encompasses and represents.
