General Information

The Symposium will be held from Monday, April 20, 2009 through Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at the Omni Charlottesville Hotel. There will be an icebreaker reception from 7-9pm at the Omni Hotel on the evening of Sunday, April 19. Conference check-in will also take place during the Sunday evening reception as well as Monday morning. Lunches Monday through Wednesday are included in the registration fee and will be provided in the Omni Hotel Atrium.

On the evening of Monday, April 20, NRAO will host a tour of the NTC (NRAO Technology Center) from 5-7pm. Among many other activities, the NTC is the site of the North American Integration Center for the ALMA receivers. Conference participants will be bussed from the Omni Hotel to the NTC and back. Later that evening, from 7-9pm, there will be a poster session and reception at the Omni Hotel.

The conference dinner will be held at Ash Lawn-Highland on the evening of Tuesday, April 21. Ash Lawn-Highland is an historic house museum, 535-acre working farm, and performing arts site in Albemarle County, Virginia. President James Monroe and his wife, Elizabeth Kortright Monroe of New York, owned Ash Lawn-Highland from 1793 to 1826 and made it their official residence from 1799 to 1823. Ash Lawn-Highland is currently operated by the College of William and Mary. Tours of the historic house will be available during the cocktail reception preceding dinner.
